Bio

Shamelle Richards is a dual degree student, completing an MPH degree with a focus on epidemiology and biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in addition to her law degree. She was born in Georgetown, Guyana and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She decided to pursue her degree programs after returning to Guyana and becoming interested in global health and health policy. As a law and public health student, she has had the opportunity to study the intersection between law, policy, and health outcomes; and to advocate for migrants and other marginalized communities. While she will begin her career in the private sector, she plans to continue her advocacy work and hopes to engage in grassroots research and policymaking aimed at addressing health inequities.
